My client is an exciting and fast growing national automotive organisation seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Site Manager and Group Fleet Transport Manager, you will be responsible for delivering the strategic goals of the Logistics Operation as well driving forward new initiatives. This is a permanent full time role, working 5am to 2.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The role will include the following responsibilities:

  • To motivate and encourage team members at all
  • Support the Site Manager with ensuring all Transport and Administration Staff comply with all aspects of Legal and Company defined legislations and
  • Support the Group Fleet Manager with the Legal compliance regarding Tachograph and Vehicle maintenance across the Fleet
  • Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers providing prompt, accurate and appropriate
  • To hold regular team briefings to keep everyone informed on performance and communicate important information and
  • To assist the Group Fleet Manager in the fleet training requirements across the logistics network as required
  • Identify training requirements that will improve the skills level of team and ultimately, the overall skills
  • Undertake ongoing reviews of Transport Department to ensure achievement of the Company's pre-determined performance
  • Regularly review all 'day-to-day' working practices and procedures within the Transport Department with a view to improving performance levels, efficiency and
  • Ensure all team members are managed consistently and in line with company HR policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with Site Manager to ensure risk assessments relating to Transport issues are regularly reviewed and updated as and when
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to the company Health and Safety Policy and safe working
  • Take all necessary preventative and corrective actions encompassing effective communication, training, and usage of PPE, equipment repairs, and workplace
  • Utilise health & safety audits to take any necessary preventative and corrective

The perfect candidate will have the following skills, qualities and experience:

  • Experience in a logistical environment
  • Experience in a transport/fleet management role
  • Proven experience of team management and development
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • A strong understanding of workplace Health & Safety
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of transport management including 'o' license and tachograph requirements
  • Good staffing levels/planning skills
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of HR practice
  • Good Microsoft Office application skills
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems
