JOB TITLE: Transport & Contract Manager

LOCATION: Deeside

Job Purpose

To ensure the effective operation of the Transport & Warehouse functions, drive continuous improvements and further develop integrated transport solutions to deliver a premium and cost effective service. Produce, agree & manage the Transport budget, accounting for any variances. Take a proactive approach in order to fully engage any new initiatives at the depot, ensuring the integration of projects is successful in line with business needs. To work with the Operation Manager to ensure the warehouse remains effective and operational in serving the customer.

Key Accountabilities

• Proactively seek optimisation without affecting service

• Integration and control of new cross dock clients where applicable

• Responsible for the interface between every area of the operation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness

• Direct, motivate and develop team members to equip them with the skills to lead and manage their teams

• Ensuse compliance with all statutory legislation in regard to Health & Safety and statutory Transport rules and regulations

• Managing a group of approved 3rd party hauliers on national and international journeys

• Propose, agree and implement service standard agreements for products with customers in conjunction with other areas of the business

• Ensure a secure and safe environment for staff and products

• Client Interface with all major customers including implementation meetings, customer reviews and other ad hoc meetings as required

• Ensure the Companies Operator Licences are maintained efficiently and accurately at all times. Contingency planning to avoid Company exposure to the Operator Licences

• Proactive management of new legislation

• Achieve efficiency through managing, planning and controlling staff on a daily basis, and an ongoing basis through objectives

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Good Management skills in terms of both Contract management and man management

• Operational experience in a food transport environment

• Pragmatic approach to problem solving

• Significant transport experience in FMCG environment

• Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy

• Negotiating skills, ability to influence and steer

• Leadership and motivational qualities and proven experience of building a team

• An effective communicator at all levels, good verbal and written skills

• Able to thrive in a highly competitive and demanding non-bureaucratic environment

• Commercially focussed and bottom-line oriented

• Consumer oriented and customer-service driven
