Are you looking currently working in the Automotive industry and looking to progress your career in an office based role? 

We are one of the industry’s largest employers offering excellent career opportunities and are currently looking for someone with a maintenance/service/warranty/parts background to join out office based Maintenance Control team supporting our national team of mobile engineers.

The role of the Maintenance Controller is to provide support to our mobile technicians in providing immediate help, support and advice over the phone to help our customer base back on to the road.

Based in our Lichfield office, we are an inclusive and pro active team of professionals from different automotive backgrounds working to provide the best level of service to our customers

Key responsibilities

  • To provide and maintain excellent first line communication with Mobile Technicians and customers to assist with the smooth running of the operation
  • Using existing skills in relation to heavy commercial vehicle mechanics, to liaise with the Mobile Technicians to diagnose faults, source replacement parts and agree final repairs in line with customer parameters in an office based environment via the telephone
  • Take a hands-on approach to the role, with a can-do attitude to effectively achieve the set targets and produce an excellent standard of work
  • Be able to problem solve effectively in what can be a fast paced and challenging environment
  • To support and analyse third party suppliers costs and work undertaken
  • Source replacement parts and agree final repairs
  • Manage cost control and downtime with Mobile Technicians and Third Party suppliers
  • Support the customers with KPI reporting where required
  • Build ongoing customer relations and at times attend customer reviews
  • Work closely with the regional Company Engineers
  • Promote a positive working environment

Key Specialist Skills and Knowledge

  • In depth knowledge of trailer maintenance requirements and regulations
  • Mechanical HGV/LCV experience and qualifications are desirable
  • Self-motivated
  • Good telephone manner
  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements.
  • Competent IT skills and knowledge
  • Ability to work to deadlines
