Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer required to work on a long term contract for our automotive client based in Essex, South East
Description
Member of a small team introducing the Productivity Operating System (POS) across component machining and assembly lines. POS is a system that utilises signals derived from machine control systems to produce productivity reports. Liaise with MEO, Production Team, Systems and machine tool suppliers to develop optimum programs to ensure the functionality of POS. Project Managing the implementation of POS, by machine, across block, head and crankshaft lines and optimising engine assembly, with feasibility, cost and timing, within a Managed Change discipline. Approve systems/equipment that meet or exceeds all national/local Health, Safety, rules and regulations. Align with and implement QS9000/ISO procedures and practices.
Job Requirements
Resolve concerns within shop floor team based activities of Process, Production, Productivity, to ensure successful handover of POS system to Production Teams. Drive lean manufacturing principles and SQDCME deployment. Provide requirements for new model launch timing and metrics. Additional duties as required.
Skills Required: The successful candidate should have experience in Power Train or Manufacturing Engineering.
Experience Required: The ability to interpret machine ladder logic and make minor changes. Project Management techniques. The use and application of problem solving tools e.g. 8D, 5 whys. An understanding of lean production and productivity techniques applied to mass production. Experience of introducing engineering changes within a manufacturing environment. The ability to work within, and lead small teams. Current safety legislation. People development and leadership ability. A high level of motivation, initiative and creativity. A flexible approach to cope with frequent change. Ability to prioritise tasks and manage a demanding workload. A high level of presentation and communication skills. Computer literacy in Word, Excel etc.
Details Education Required: An engineering degree or minimum HNC/HND obtained through a recognised apprenticeship, preferably electrical/ electronic or mechanical.
