Workshop Supervisor/Controller based in Kabul, Afghanistan.

We are a global aid and development dealer for Ford Motor Company and sell/modify vehicles for use by humanitarian and development non-governmental organizations, government and commercial businesses. We operate in an expanding and dynamic international environment of general trading and service operations in emerging markets.
Key responsibilities of the post:
- Manage a work force of mainly Afghan Nationals and optimize the workshop through puts while maintaining high R.F.T.F. standards.
- Advise and report on vehicle faults and servicing requirements noticed while working on vehicles, including future service/repair requirements.
- Ensure the effective use of equipment and other resources to ensure the highest productivity.
- Minimize non-revenue time by efficient organization of the technicians and their work, reporting and recording all such non-revenue activity time.
- Ensure a fair distribution of work between all technicians commensurate with skills and experience.
- Minimize unnecessary customer expense while ensuring that all necessary work and preventative maintenance is undertaken.
- Ensure safe and reliable use and maintenance of equipment.
- Ensure staffs take all precautions necessary affecting health and safety in the workshop.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Technical qualifications and the ability to apply knowledge in the workplace
- At least 3 years Workshop management experience.
- Good all round technical skills required for both light and heavy commercial vehicles.
- Ability to explain repairs and work undertaken to customers, discuss issues of a technical nature, and when required, to agree workable solutions to customer problems.
- Ability to maintain personal technical knowledge and skills and remain up to date on best working practices.
- Skills and qualities to mentor, coach, supervise and motivate a labor force.
- Skills to identify strengths, weaknesses, training needs and other support required by technician and workshop staff.
- Patience, empathy and a calm and organized approach to problem solving.
