We are currently supporting our renowned automotive fleet client in the search for a Workshop Manager to join their busy operation in the York area.

Main Purpose of Role:

Manage the operational aspects of the facility (including stock control, parts and logistics) to drive improvement in service delivery to both external and internal customers through process improvement and employee engagement.

Ensure the technical expertise and capability of the workshop is developed to support future growth.

Accountabilities:

Facility

Overall responsibility for the day to day operation of the Technical facility (EFS). Including:

Oversee the management of the team ensuring regular and clear communication is in place (e.g. 121's, weekly tool box talks, quarterly company communications updates, etc.) and these are conducted in a professional and efficient manner.

Ensure all the necessary equipment, resources and systems are in place.

Ensure correct and accurate completion of all job related documentation e.g. job cards, parts orders, materials and consumables used, logbooks, job write-ups and recording of attendance and time on jobs.

That the Quality Check process is fully implemented as per the procedures in force at the time and quality of workmanship and fit out is maintained to the highest levels.

The parts stock is controlled and managed appropriate to the needs of the facility. Ensuring that parts are available for vehicle fit out in order to meet the planned programme of works and customer deadlines. Authorise local purchase orders, within designated level of authority.

The efficiency and utilisation of the facility is maximised and achieves budgetary target.

Develop and improve the approach to service delivery in line with best practice methodologies and continuous improvement, engaging the team through a coaching style.

That supplier relationships are maintained and developed delivering high service levels/output and best value for EFS.

Ensure suppliers are managed and performance is reviewed on a regular basis, including auditing suppliers and their ongoing performance, and maintaining robust processes for selecting new suppliers.

Customer contract performance is achieved and KPI incentives / penalties are maximised / minimised respectively.

Prevent fraud and minimise risk or exposure of the company through effective management and business controls.

Assist in ensuring that customer concerns / feedback are monitored, progressed and closed down.

Reporting / Data

Provide management reporting and business analysis to the Board as required.

Ensure appropriate detail of reporting is in place (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly etc.), to enable the effective management of the facility and business forecasting.

Carry out random audits on all processes to ensure data integrity, particularly month-end billing and contract KPI reporting.

Health & Safety

Remain up to date with relevant technical instructions/data and to maintain awareness of legislation relating to all statutory health and safety, COSHH and the Environmental Protection Act.

Promote a safe working environment within the facility e.g. wearing of appropriate PPE, ensuring that materials, fluids, packaging, etc., are correctly disposed and free of hazards at all times.

Ensure all working areas are in a clean and safe condition, dispose of displaced material, fluids, packaging etc. into the receptacles provided.

Sales / Account Management / Workshop Support

Provide EFS technical support to the Business Development, Account Management and Workshop Teams particularly on Contract and Tender negotiations to include attending meetings/presentations throughout UK, bid management, producing quotations and specifications.

People Performance

Monitor the performance and potential of the team and provide the direction, training and motivation necessary to secure their optimum commitment, competency and maximum efficiency. Making sure they adopt and uphold the company's Values, Mission and Givens.

Ensure that a culture of coaching and mentoring is in place with an appropriate amount of time spent in the workshop with the team.

Carry out Performance Management Reviews (PMRs) with direct reports and ensure PMR completion of non-direct reports.

General

Deal with any concerns or issues that may arise, implementing preventative improvements.

Maintain a professional attitude, building and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.

Embrace the companies Mission, Values and Givens, ensuring these are embedded in all working practices.

Adhere to the Company's Standard of Appearance Policy.
