Inspection and Repair Technician

Salary: £20,342 - £25,000 OTE

Forde Automotive is looking for an Inspection and Repair Technician to join their client, a leading automotive name in the Doncaster area. The successful Inspection and Repair Technician will be required to use their skills and expertise to carry out inspections, on customer vehicles at designated sites. You will be predominantly working outside, without direct supervision – so you will need to be independent, driven and able to diagnose common vehicle faults.

As well as carrying out checks you will be required to report findings clearly and accurately; ensuring the customer fully understands the issues identified. You will be expected to keep up to date with technological and safety developments as they affect the diagnosis and repair of motor vehicles.

Accurate records must be kept of all tasks and inspections, and therefore you will be expected to maintain all paperwork necessary in accordance with current procedures.

What do I need?

  • NVQ 3 level of qualification in motor vehicle systems, or equivalent
  • A good understanding of electronic equipment and the ability to keep up to date with changes in motor industry related technology
  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Driving license
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent timekeeping skills
  • Willingness to travel to client sites
  • Good customer service skills and the ability to act as a brand ambassador with the general public
  • The ability and willingness to work out doors in all weathers
  • Excellent team player
  • You will require a driving licence with a maximum of 6 points.

You may be working shifts, which does include weekend working and evenings on some occasions.

Previous car inspection, MOT or appraisal work would be beneficial, although not essential. Successful candidates will be required to attend a residential training period of up to 2 weeks.
