Business Development Manager – Car Dealership

Location: Southampton

Salary: £40k - £50k Per Year + Company Car, Mobile & Laptop

Reporting to the Fleet Sales Manager, you will cover a large area serving our sites across the south coast while being based at Southampton. The position is to develop new opportunities by sourcing new clients, this will involve mainly phone prospecting and cold calling with the aim to gaining customer appointments. The goal being to understand the business's car purchasing cycles and develop those long-standing relationships that will inevitably lead to repeat business.

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and driven individual who is not afraid to pick up the phone, and uses their initiative to gain new prospects through the use of websites, existing databases, referrals and networking. 

You will also need to manage an effective database, while also providing activity reports and quarterly business plans. Previous Motor trade experience is not essential if you have a proven track record in B2B sales.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Sourcing new clients and developing new business opportunities, through cold calling and speaking to decision makers
  • Educating clients to understand the features and benefits of our products
  • Creating finance quotes based on client requirements while always following FCA guidelines
  • To Operate and promote an effective group referral system
  • To make customer appointments and conduct a professional B2B meeting, while gathering relevant information and obtaining future commitment
  • Deliver consistent results through the use of the sales process
  • Manage an effective follow up customer system/ database
  • Produce weekly management information, progress and activity reports
  • To consistently deliver the highest levels of professionalism and customer service

About You:

  • You will already be working in a Sales environment. And have a proven track record of consistently achieving targets, ideally experienced in business to business sales
  • You will need to follow a structured sales process, be an experienced negotiator and be able to represent the company and the brand in a professional manner at all times
  • You will be able to prioritize tasks, employ Good decision making and have the ability to communicate at all levels
  • You will need be articulate in both written and verbal communication, Numerate with good IT skills
  • You must have a valid UK driving licence
